About this album
A Thousand and One Harmonies” – Concert by the SAMA Ensemble On November 22, 2025, the SAMA Ensemble presented its new project, “A Thousand and One Harmonies (From Bards and Gosans),” at the Alte Börse in Leipzig. The concert offered an evening between East and West, shaped by sounds inspired by deserts, temples, and royal courts. Under the musical direction of Ali Pirabi and with storytelling by Mohsen Banaie, the program created a fascinating encounter between Jewish, Arab, and Persian musical traditions — from Hebrew piyyutim and Arabic melodies to the poetic sounds of Persia. At the heart of the performance was Bahram Gour, the legendary king from Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh — the son of a Jewish princess who was raised within Arab culture. His life embodies the connection of three worlds, a connection that resonated throughout the concert as a symbol of musical and cultural diversity.
